A delegation from Surda Abu Qash Municipality, headed by the Mayor, Mr. Mohammad Mousa Ramadan, visited the Arab American University – Ramallah Campus with the aim of strengthening cooperation and opening new avenues for partnership in cultural, volunteer, community, and developmental fields, in a way that serves the local community and promotes the spirit of volunteerism and youth initiatives.
During the visit, the municipality presented a symbolic token of appreciation in recognition of the fruitful cooperation and partnership demonstrated by the university and its student volunteers in recent activities. These activities were implemented in partnership with the Cultural Council of Birzeit Municipality and took place in the towns of Surda and Abu Qash.
The delegation was received by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Asia, Vice President for the Ramallah Campus, Mr. Mohammad Sbaaneh, Director of Student Affairs, Dr. Rania Al-Nabulsi from Student Affairs, and Ms. Samah Naifeh, Director of Public Relations and Communications.
During the meeting, Mayor Mohammad Mousa Ramadan praised the significant role played by the university’s administrative staff in cooperation with the municipal teams, commending the students’ commitment and volunteer efforts that contributed to the success of the recent events. He emphasized that the Arab American University is a leading national academic institution and a key partner in serving community causes and promoting volunteer work.
For their part, Prof. Dr. Asia, Dr. Rania Al-Nabulsi, and Mr. Sbaaneh expressed their appreciation for the constructive cooperation with the municipality and their satisfaction with the students’ participation in the activities. They highlighted that volunteer experiences enhance practical, field-based learning and foster a sense of responsibility and community engagement among students. They also noted that education extends beyond academic aspects to include practical experience and community interaction, which strengthens students’ sense of national belonging. At the same time, they commended the role of Surda Abu Qash Municipality in supporting youth and community initiatives and its continuous efforts to build partnerships with academic institutions.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to continue joint work and expand areas of cooperation in volunteer, community, and developmental activities, contributing to enhanced community participation and integrated efforts in serving Surda and Abu Qash.
